Lenexa man charged with assaulting salesman
Most people just say “Go away” or maybe some other choice words to door-to-door salesmen.
But, according to Lenexa police, that's not the tack that Kevin Douglas Taylor, 35, took Tuesday evening when a magazine salesman knocked on the door of his apartment in the 10400 block of Pflumm Road.
Police Sgt. Gerry Cullumber said Taylor answered the door holding a .45-caliber pistol and, pointing the weapon at the salesman's head, accused him of stealing a no-soliciting sign.
The salesman denied removing the sign, but Taylor continued to swear and point the gun at the man's head before Taylor went back inside and closed the door, Cullumber said.
The solicitor called police from a neighbor's apartment. Taylor was charged Wednesday in Johnson County District Court with one count of aggravated assault, a felony.
A judge set Taylor's bond at $100,000 and directed that if he posts bond, he is to remain on house arrest.
